The four small ships of Clipper Cruise Lines travel around the globe “off the beaten path”. Their maximum capacity does not exceed 140 passengers. Their homeground is more or less found in the Arctic, Antatrctic, the Amazon river and Greenland. If needed, the captain may change the itinerary depending on the weather conditions, e.g. to avoid pack-ice, thus adding to the soft-expedition cruise experience.
Clipper organises cruises which are nature-oriented. Lect, study and visit remote

One of their ships is the Clipper Adventurer. She dates from 1975, and Clipper acquired and renovated her in 1998. A small vessel, measuring 4375 GRT, with a length of 101 m and a beam of 16m she carries 122 passengers in outside cabins only. She is certainly not an luxurious ship, but has a very intimate atmosphere an baard, not in the least because much of the original wood – panelling spell) has been retained after her refit.

Public rooms include a lounge, restaurant, library, shop fitness-room and a barber-shop, to be found on .. of her .. decks pgr invoegen. Her classic interiors give her a kind of englich mansion engels oud /landhuislook
Atmosphere.

Clipper Adventurer is ice strengtned, Class A-1, and carries zodiacs to tender her passengers ashore. On regular cruises, once, at the most twice during a cruise of one or two weeks, psssnegrs are ferried ashore this way, as this only happens wehen a ship is just to large tot enter port. On Clipper Adventurer, using zodiacs is almost customary (de regel) because she frequently anchors at places where there are no port facilities at all.

On board Cl Adv it all draait om revolves at the soft expedition character of her cruises. Visiting natures most beautiful and remote situated spots and studying nature are Clippers trademark. To be fully prepared for visits to remote ports, many lecturers covering a variety of subjects are invited on board. Hollywood production shows or other forms of flashy entertainment will be looked for in vain on Clipper Adventurer. There is no dress code, casual clothes will do for the entire duration of the cruise. Flat shoes, suited for hiking and a warm sweater will be needed…….
As on many regular cruises nowadays, formal nights include a Captains Welcome Dinner and Farewell Gala Dinner, and for these on Clipper Adventurer no tuxedos or gala dresses are needed, jacket and tie and for the ladies ….. are acaaptable.

On her travels, Cl Adv has experienced some closse calls, as she found herself in trouble in 1996 on the North Sea as well as in 2000, when she was suroounded by pack-ice, and the help of an icebreaker was neede to free her again and escort her out.
Cl Adv is one of a series of 8 former Soviet vessels built between 1974 – 1978 which were destined for service in northern waters, the northern regions of the former Soviet-Union. With this in mind, they were constructed with ice-srengthended hulls, which makes them ideal for use as expedition cruise ships. Clippe Adv original name was Allla Tarasova.

Some he sister ships have seen expediotion cruises service as well, for example the Lyubov Orlova, which sailed for –now defunct- Marine Expeditions. They operated her under the name of Marine Discovery, but she was never officially renamed as such.
