To be able to designate two groups of cruise ships, I have 'drawn the line' - quite arbitrarily I must admit
-
between ships taken into service before 1975, and after this year.
So, ships before 1975 are considered to be classic cruise
ships. Many of these ships described are gone, as they have been scrapped, burned
out or sank....
However, I think these ships and their stories are worth
to be told. Ships like Stella Polaris or Andes because they have both marked
the beginning of a new era in the history of cruising. Ships like Prince
George and Baltic Star, to name just two examples, because they have had long
and varied careers, and influenced the cruise scene in their own modest ways, although they did not
become as well known as other vessels.

I hope to add more soon.........
