All text and photographs (unless stated otherwise) © Paul Timmerman Carnival Triumph is a sister ship to Carnival Destiny, the world's first cruise ship to pass the 100.000 GRT limit, and Carnival Victory and Carnival Legend. Her interiors have been designed by Joe Farcus, the well-known interior architect who has designed all of Carnival's vessels, starting with the Mardi Gras in 1972 until today's newbuildings.
View on Lido deck We made a cruise on Carnival Triumph in 1999, in fact we were the first Dutch passengers on board. By coincidence the Triumph's cruise director John Heald was married to a Dutch wife...... it can be a small world. Sailing with a passenger capacity of 2758 double occupancy and 3360 all berths, we were told aboard that on one of her first voyages when she was fully booked, she set a world-record of carrying the highest number of passengers aboard a cruise ship at the time. It got her a place in the Guinness book of world records.
Terraced sun deck As usual, the center of activity of a ship this size is around the atrium, more precise the lowest level, the Capitol Lobby with it's bar. In the atrium, the Capitol, a gold-leaf globe dominates this huge space. From the Capitol, most public areas on decks 3, 4 and 5 can easily be reached. The globe in the atrium relates to the theme that Joe Farcus has chosen for the interiors of Carnival Triumph, "The World". This theme is found everywhere on the ship, from artwork (of which there is plenty by the way) to doorknobs.......
